Financial Times Worries That Trump Is Way Ahead of Biden in the Polls

A concerned article published Nov. 5 by the Financial Times reports that recent polls indicate that Biden’s hopes for reelection are sinking rapidly, both because of the state of the economy and the ongoing wars in Ukraine and Gaza, which are leading to splits in Democratic ranks.

The article reports on a New York Times/Siena poll which found that Trump is now ahead of Biden in five of the six most important battleground states, all of which went to Biden in 2020, “fueled by doubts about his handling of the economy, questions about his age and discontent on other issues such as the Israel-Hamas conflict.” The article adds: “If the election were held now, Biden would lose to Trump by margins of three to 10 percentage points in the battleground states of Arizona, Georgia, Michigan, Nevada and Pennsylvania, the New York Times poll found. Biden is ahead in Wisconsin by two percentage points. He carried all of these states in 2020.”
