There are an estimated 150 border conflicts around the world, most created way-back-when by the British Empire itself, to be activated and heated up whenever the Monarchy and City of London deems it useful to serve imperial interests. The U.K. Chief of the Defence Staff, Adm. Sir Tony Radakin, would seem to view that time as now.
In his annual Royal United Services Institute (RUSI) Lecture this past Dec. 13, Admiral Radakin listed border conflicts among the “the security challenges” faced today in this “era of renewed great power and state on state competition.”
The Ukraine-Russia and the “Gaza” conflict are only part of “broader backdrop” of security challenges he sees in this “era of renewed great power and state on state competition.” Among the others named, he included “the re-emergence of long running territorial disputes, most recently between Venezuela and Guyana.”
