Saxony’s Minister President Michael Kretschmer accuses the coalition government of making serious mistakes in economic policy. In a Feb.14 interview with the Düsseldorf newspaper Rheinische Post, the CDU politician said: “This is now reminiscent of the G.D.R. [East Germany]. There was a disastrous economic policy, the consequences were concealed with debt and then the state was bankrupt.” Kretschmer added that he wanted “us to get out of this crisis. … But we can’t afford a completely misguided economic policy that is causing us to completely lose our economic strength.”
