Yesterday, US Central Command issued three press releases on actions taken against the Houthis in Yemen. At about 3:30 PM local time, US forces “struck and destroyed a Houthi surface-to-air missile prepared to launch.” Then, at about 8:30 PM, “Iranian-backed Houthi militants fired one anti-ship ballistic missile from Houthi-controlled areas of Yemen toward the Gulf of Aden.” That missile was shot down by the USS Carney, which also shot down 3 drones about 40 minutes later. Then at about 1:30 AM this morning, US forces “conducted strikes against an Iranian-backed Houthi UAV ground control station and 10 Houthi one-way UAVs,” all done in “self-defense.”

The Houthis themselves claimed hitting a US commercial vessel, called the Cole, and a US Navy ship, neither of which have been confirmed.
