Xinhua Global Links today features a clip of an interview with the Schiller Institute’s Stephan Ossenkopf, in which he speaks of the great excitement over the upcoming BRICS summit in Kazan, because the BRICS spirit, of non-interference, peaceful coexistence and respect for the different development models of nations, is key to a new system. Nations have been unable to develop, and wars have devastated nations, leading to millions of people ending up as refugees or beggars on the street. “So we need a system where the original aspiration of the Global Majority has to be fulfilled. We have to take up their needs for development, for peace,” Ossenkopf urges.
