Centcom Commander Toured Egypt, Jordan and Syria Just Before U.S. Air Drops in Gaza

March 4, 2024 (EIRNS)—U.S. Central Command issued a press release yesterday, reporting on a recent tour of the region by Centcom chief Gen. Michael Kurilla. From Feb. 26 to March 2, the release says, Kurilla visited Egypt, Jordan, Syria, and Israel in the CENTCOM region “to better understand the security and humanitarian situation and meet with U.S. service members and security partners.” Kurilla began his tour with a stop in Al Arish, Egypt and the Rafah border crossing, to discuss the process of delivering humanitarian aid from Egypt into Gaza. Then he went to Jordan to meet with Jordan’s defense chief, and visited U.S. bases in Jordan and Syria (it is not reported whether he had the permission of Damascus to enter sovereign Syrian territory). Kurilla then finished up with four days of meetings with Defense Minister Yoav Gallant and IDF chief Herzi Halevi in Israel.
