April 25, 2024 (EIRNS)—Karachi business leaders made calls for Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif to normalize trade relations with India and to reconcile with imprisoned former Prime Minister Imran Khan at a meeting that Shehbaz held with them.high-level Karachi business leaders It was the first of several planned meetings with the country’s business community in an effort to sound them out on how to double the amount of exports.

Let’s focus on genuine industrial and agricultural growth and double the exports in the next five years. It’s difficult but not impossible. It’s an article of faith for me. I would listen to you and make a plan to put that into action.”
While his enthusiasm for increasing exports was well received, he was confronted by the effect of the newly-signed agreement with the International Monetary Fund, which has led to a huge increase in energy prices and high interest rates, as well as the current instability of the country.
