Putin Takes Time Out To Celebrate Birthday of Famous Poet Pushkin

On the 225th anniversary of the birth of the great Russian poet Alexander Pushkin, President Vladimir Putin visited the Tsarskoye Selo State Museum and Heritage site. As posted to the Kremlin website, Putin saw the reconstructed rooms of the Alexander Pushkin Memorial Lyceum and Museum, along with the exhibition, “The Poet and the Tsar,” dedicated to the anniversary.

The Memorial Lyceum and Museum opened in 1949 in the building of the former Imperial Lyceum in Tsarskoye Selo, where Pushkin studied between 1811 and 1817. Director of the National Pushkin Museum Sergei Nekrasov accompanied President Putin during the tour. As the Kremlin explains, “The Poet and the Tsar” exhibition is located in the Cameron Gallery of Catherine Park and is dedicated to Alexander Pushkin’s relationships with the emperor and grand dukes.
