As the Israeli military has stood aside the last several months while some Israeli thugs amongst the illegal settlers’ movement have attacked aid trucks headed for Gaza and destroyed desperately needed food, other Israelis now have intervened to protect the aid trucks—and, in their words, to protect the soul of Israel.
At Tarqumiya, near Hebron in the West Bank, five such thugs showed up last week to carry out yet another mission, but they found dozens of peace activists from Standing Together, a Jewish-Arab peace coalition, waiting for them. As reported by [The Guardian]( https://www.theguardian.com/world/article/2024/may/31/solidarity-over-hatred-the-small-band-of-israelis-stopping-settlers-obstructing-aid-trucks?CMP=oth_b-aplnews_d-1), when the five went to the middle of the road and forced an aid truck to halt, the activists surrounded the five, forming a chain around them and keeping them away from the truck. The truck went on its way. After a half hour of some tense scenes, with the armed thugs accusing Standing Together of being on the side of Hamas, the police finally did intervene, forcing the settlers to get out of the road.
