A Schiller Institute spokesman participated in two “election events,” one in Iran on the day of the July 5 election there, and one on the French elections on a Pan-African website.
Harley Schlanger, representing the Schiller Institute, was a guest on Iran’s election day coverage on on Press-TV, for a one-hour program. The program featured him in four segments of 4-5 minutes, to present the broader strategic picture on the morning of the election. The program included correspondents reporting on the voting from four different locations around the country, which showed people calmly lined up to vote. Schlanger was asked to comment about Iran and its new membership in the BRICS, the sanctions policy of the U.S., the Gaza and Ukraine conflicts, and general questions about the global strategic shifts in which the election for President of Iran was taking place.
On his interview about the French election, Schiller Institute representative Schlanger was on a panel sponsored by Media Africa’s “Global Insights” program, on the topic “The French Elections and the Impact on Geopolitics.” After initial presentations, in which Schlanger focused on the tectonic shifts underway, in which the turmoil in France is an expression, the program went into a lively exchange with the five panelists, two from Ghana and two from France, in addition to Schlanger. With the exception of a political analyst from Ghana, who insisted that bringing Russia in “to aid” Africa was just a switch in “imperial masters,” the others were open to a discussion of an African role in creating a new strategic and development architecture. Afterwards, all the panelists exchanged contact information and expressed a commitment to remain in contact.
