For the third day in a row, fighting in the Kursk region continued without letup.
The Russian Defense Ministry issued a statement this morning reporting that Russian forces are still repelling the Ukrainian attack. “Over the past 24 hours, units of the Sever Group of Forces and arrived reserves, Army Aviation, and artillery fire foiled enemy attempts to launch raid operations to the depth of the Russian territory in Kursk direction,” it said. “Russian troops launched fire on [Ukrainian armed forces] AFU manpower and hardware close to Daryino, Gogolevka, Melovoy, and Nikolsky, and on the western outskirts of Sudzha.”
“Over the past 24 hours, the Armed Forces of Ukraine have lost over 280 troops and 27 armored vehicles, to include four tanks, five armored personnel carriers, 18 armored fighting vehicles, six motor vehicles, one 155-mm M777 howitzer, one 155-mm Krab self-propelled artillery system, and one D-20 gun,” it reported further. “Since the beginning of hostilities in Kursk region, the enemy has lost up to 945 troops and 102 armored vehicles, including 12 tanks, 17 armored personnel carriers, six infantry fighting vehicles, 67 armored fighting vehicles, 12 motor vehicles, two Buk M1 self-propelled artillery systems, and three field artillery guns.”
The Intel Slava Z Telegram channel posted video this morning showing Russian military convoys carrying heavy armor and artillery crossing into the Kursk region.
Alexey Smirnov, the acting governor of the Kursk region, said on his Telegram channel that the situation remains complicated. “The situation in the Kursk Region remains difficult. In cooperation with the social services and non-governmental organizations a system of assistance to internally displaced persons has been organized,” he wrote, reported TASS. A humanitarian aid warehouse has been deployed in Kursk, where relief supplies from other regions of Russia are pouring in. Reserves of electric power generators, bottled water and medicines have been created.
Experts told Izvestia that counter-attacks and fighting for positions are currently taking place in the region, which will be followed by a Russian offensive. At this point, the situation in the region is far from decided, as both sides battle to impose their will on the other, reported this morning’s TASS press review.
