FT Reveals ‘Secret Talks’ Between U.S. and Taiwan

Taiwan’s top foreign policy officials visited the U.S. this week for secret meetings known as “special channel” talks, Financial Times reported on August 22. FT maintains that the U.S. and Taiwan have held secret “special channel” talks for years, although their existence was first disclosed by FT in 2021. The last special channel was held in February 2023.
