Anatoly Antonov, Russia’s Ambassador to the U.S., denounced the Aug. 1 speech of Pentagon official Vipin Narang at the CSIS International Security Program. His statement, on the embassy’s Telegram channel, includes the remark that: “With persistence worthy of a better application, they are again trying to teach our country, as well as China, ‘correct behavior.’ Otherwise, they threaten the onset of a new ‘nuclear age,’ in which the United States will allegedly not restrain the growth of its own nuclear arsenal..
“Statements of this kind do not help to improve the situation in the sphere of strategic security. The Americans are trying to put aside Washington’s deeply hostile policy towards our country and the Russian people. They continue to ‘pump’ the Kyiv regime with new types of weapons, including fighters capable of carrying nuclear weapons. They are also hushing up the inconvenient truth about the U.S. strikes on the entire architecture of international arms control that have been inflicted over two decades.
