Russian State Duma Speaker Vyacheslav Volodin gave a sharp warning today on the tragic consequences that the U.S. and the EU are creating through NATO deployments. The previous day, on August 5, Russian President Vladimir Putin had held a meeting with the Federal Assembly leaders, State Duma Speaker Volodin and Federation Council Speaker Senator Valentina Matviyenko, addressing the legislative sessions that had just ended. (The Federal Assembly, working with Putin, had crafted 331 laws, primarily on social and economic matters, but also on security and defense issues.) It is reasonable to assume that Volodin reflects the mindset conveyed at that meeting.

Volodin posted on Telegram, as TASS translated: “As Washington and Brussels coordinate the military operation in Ukraine, posing a threat to Russia’s security, parliaments and citizens in the United States and the European Union should understand that their leaders who have lost their minds may lead the world to tragic consequences.”
