Western Mouthpieces Shriek for More Weapons to Ukraine Following Kursk Incursion

A Friday editorial board statement in the Aug. 9 Wall Street Journal jumps at the opportunity of Ukraine’s “bold” move into Russia’s Kursk region to make a call for renewed push for a Ukrainian military victory. “Will the U.S. help Kyiv stay on offense?” they ask. As Ukraine’s prospects—and troops—have dwindled over the recent months, this incursion is just what the geopoliticians were looking for to rally the forces.

Keeping Russian territory a “sanctuary” they write “has been one of the goals of Mr. Putin’s bluster about fighting NATO and using nuclear weapons. He wants the U.S. and Western European governments to restrain Ukraine to fight only on its territory.” This has now all changed, they claim.
