On last Wednesday’s 23rd anniversary of the 9/11 attacks against the World Trade Center in New York and the Pentagon, closed circuit images captured Matt Nelson (a resident of Cape Cod, Massachusetts) dousing himself with an accelerant and igniting his body which was quickly engulfed in flames, only yards away from Israel’s Consulate in Boston.
In a video he recorded prior to his action, Nelson states his reason for the extreme act as “a call to our government to stop supplying Israel with money and weapons … to end the genocide in Gaza and support the ICC (International Criminal Court) indictment of Netanyahu….” He includes sentiments like those made by U.S. serviceman Aarron Bushnell who self-immolated on Feb. 25 in front of the Israeli Embassy in Washington, D.C.
