Sen. Lindsey Graham Proclaims U.S. Needs Ukraine’s Mineral Resources

Senator Lindsey Graham (R-SC), with all the emotion of a hungry tick, stated on Sept. 6, that the Ukrainians “are sitting on a trillion dollars’ worth of minerals that could be good to our economy. So, I want to keep helping our friends in Ukraine. We can win this. They need our help,” RT quoted him as saying.

Graham was speaking on the sidelines of the Cernobbio Forum in Italy, where he led a bipartisan delegation of U.S. Senators to meet with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, who had addressed the oligarchic “forum.” As Zelenskyy’s website noted, “They discussed the urgent needs of Ukraine’s defenders on the battlefield,” which include “obtaining additional air defense systems and missiles for them, as well as expanding training missions for Ukrainian pilots on F-16 fighters. Volodymyr Zelenskyy once again emphasized that Ukraine needs permission to use long-range weapons provided by partners against military targets in Russia.”

RT quoted former Russian President Dmitry Medvedev, currently deputy chair of the Russian Security Council, claimed last week in a lengthy Telegram post that “both Kiev and its Western backers have been focused on holding their grip on Donbass solely over its natural-resource riches.

“According to open-source data, the total value of Ukraine’s former mineral resource base is estimated at almost $14.8 trillion, but $7.3 trillion of this is now in the Lugansk and Donetsk People’s Republics. That means almost half of the former Ukraine’s national wealth is in Donbass!” Medvedev wrote.

Lindsey posted on his X account a video in the mansion with Zelenskyy at Ambrosetti, Italy, although not saying where they were, that “I very much enjoyed our congressional delegation’s meeting with President Zelenskyy. It is long past time that we allow Ukraine to use long-range U.S. weapons to maximum effect to hit Russian air bases … and it is long past time that we allow retired NATO F-16 pilots to get in the fight. I will be returning to Washington more dedicated than ever” to pressure Biden “to lift the weapons restrictions on Ukraine” and “get retired, combat-tested NATO F-16 pilots in the cockpit in Ukraine. Post-election, we will need a supplemental for disaster relief for our own country, along with additional aid to Israel and Ukraine….”

Despite multiple news reports that Lindsey was Kiev, he and the Senators met Zelenskyy in Ambrosetti, Italy at the Cernobbio Forum.
