A new opinion piece in the Washington Post shows that the reality on the ground in Ukraine is starting to sink into the mainstream debate. The Post’s European Affairs columnist Lee Hockstader published the piece Sept. 19 titled: “The Losing Strategy of Underestimating Russia: Russia remains a formidable power. The West should not assume it is a depleted military force.”
Hockstader references Russia’s Sept. 10-16 Ocean 2024 naval maneuvers, which had 90,000 troops and 400 vessels, and said this proves “Moscow remains plenty equipped to project power across the globe.” He also notes that, as the war grinds on, more credence will be given to the notion that “Moscow can outlast Washington and its allies.”
