Türkiye and Egypt's Presidents Hold Summit in Ankara

Egypt’s President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi made an official visit to Türkiye today on the invitation of President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, marking the full normalization process between the two countries. Erdoğan personally welcomed el-Sisi at Esenboğa Airport in the capital Ankara, after which the two leaders proceeded to the presidential complex. Following a formal welcoming ceremony, they held a private meeting. El-Sisi’s visit follows Erdoğan’s trip to Cairo in February, the first of its kind since 2012, at which the two nations elevated their relationship to the level of “strategic cooperation.” Relations had been broken off after Egyptian President Mohamed Morsi was removed from power in 2013.

“My visit today, following President Erdogan’s visit to Cairo, reflects our shared will to begin a new phase of friendship and cooperation between Egypt and Türkiye,” stated President el-Sisi . This new phase reflects the pivotal roles the two nations play in their respective regions and the broader international landscape, fulfilling the aspirations and hopes of both nations’ peoples.
