Naryshkin Debunks ‘Rogue Ukrainian’ Theory of Nord Stream Bombing

The head of the Russian Foreign Intelligence Service (SVR) Sergei Naryshkin, in an Oct. 4 speech at the 55th Meeting of the Heads of Security Agencies and Special Services of the CIS countries, gave the lie to the theory that Nord Stream was destroyed by a group of Ukrainian special services working on their own. “Western media are trying to blame a group of Ukrainian amateur submariners who allegedly acted independently,” Naryshkin said. “However, this version is designed for a naive layman. The SVR has reliable information about the direct involvement of the United States and Great Britain in this major terrorist attack. According to available data, professional saboteurs from the Anglo-Saxon special services were involved in its organization, preparation and implementation. The American administration considered it justified to commit such sabotage in order to ensure the separation of Europe, and above all Germany, from Russia. Washington was not sure that they would be able to convince the Europeans to abandon the use of the Nord Streams, which were extremely beneficial for the European economy, and so the pipelines were destroyed.”

Naryshkin also documented how NATO forces were intent on conducting terrorist operations in the war zone as well as in Russia proper. “Available data indicate that Western intelligence agencies, primarily the British MI6, were systematically preparing Ukrainian sabotage and reconnaissance groups to organize provocations at a number of nuclear power plants in Russia,” he said. “In particular, MI6 and the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ukrainian Ministry of Defense were developing an operation to blow up power lines connecting nuclear power plants with the Russian national energy system.”

He further indicated how NATO is working to recruit terrorist elements from Syria and elsewhere in the Middle East to participate in their efforts against Russia. “According to reliable information, NATO intelligence services are transferring militants from the Middle East to the special military operation zone to participate in military actions on the side of the Kyiv regime,” Naryshkin said. “The American military base At-Tanf on the border of Syria, Jordan, and Iraq has long been transformed into a kind of terrorist ‘hub’ where about 500 ISIS fighters and other jihadists loyal to Washington can simultaneously undergo ‘retraining.’ Priority is given to people from the Russian republics of the North Caucasus, the states of the South Caucasus and Central Asia.
