The following report appears in this week’s EIR European Alert.
There are calls for the resignation of U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken, following the publication of an article which exposes him for lying in order to enable U.S. aid to flow unimpeded to Israel, despite the latter’s violations of U.S. law. Democratic Party Congresswoman Rashida Tlaib and Nihad Awad, the National Executive Director of the Council on American-Islamic Relations, have demanded his resignation, following an article by Brett Murphy, posted on ProPublica website on Sept. 24, which contrasts Blinken’s denial that Israel was blocking humanitarian aid for Palestinians, with two reports produced by State Department officials, which assert the opposite: That Israel was preventing the delivery of aid and that said action was leading to hunger, disease, starvation and death in the Gaza Strip.
One of those reports is a 17-page memo sent to Blinken in early May, prepared by researchers in his State Department’s U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID), and the other had been drafted by the State Department Bureau of Population, Refugees and Migration.
