Zepp-LaRouche in Berlin Warns of Nuclear War Danger; BRICS Kazan Summit Offers Beautiful Alternative

Today in Berlin, Helga Zepp-LaRouche warned at a China-Germany human rights conference of the immediate danger of nuclear war. This evening evening the China daily Global Times paraphrased Mrs. Zepp-LaRouche that: “It is probably impossible to speak about human rights without addressing the immediate danger to the very existence of the entire human species—war in Ukraine and war in the Middle East, which risk escalating into a global nuclear war. The highest priority for all people must be to rise above geopolitics and the notion that nations or groups can impose their interests on others by any means is fundamentally flawed.”

Events of the hour regarding Ukraine and the Middle East underscore her warning. At a meeting on Ukraine yesterday at the UN Security Council, Russian Ambassador to the UN Vassily Nebenzia once again reiterated that the West entertaining Ukraine joining NATO and basing long-range missiles there is unacceptable, which contingency Ukraine’s acting President Zelenskyy is still pushing, and NATO refuses to retract. “Lest anyone have any illusions, I would like to immediately reaffirm that Ukraine’s membership of the North Atlantic Alliance in any territorial form is absolutely unacceptable to Russia and cannot be part of any peace plans or mediation initiatives,” Ambassador Nebenzia asserted.

The NATO, Anglo-American bloc is expanding in Europe, aiming at Russia. Yesterday was the ceremony in Rostock, Germany, establishing the new NATO naval command center for the Baltic Sea. The operation is called the “Commander Task Force Baltic,” and significantly, it is located at a former East German port. The Russian Ministry strongly objected today and summoned the German ambassador to Moscow, pointing out the clear NATO violation of past agreements against yet another move Eastward.

In Southwest Asia, the horrors of Israel’s actions in Gaza and Lebanon are beyond words. Israel’s bombing in and around Beirut over the past 36 hours, targeted the vicinity of the largest hospital in Lebanon, Rafik Hariri University Hospital in Beirut, with many dead and injured. There are massacres in northern Gaza, with bodies on the streets, while dozens of thousands suffer slow death from enforced starvation and thirst.

A ghoulish confab yesterday in Israel conferred on how to make use of the full Mediterranean Gaza Strip, once all the Palestinians have been eliminated. A settlers’ movement group leader, Daniella Weiss, head of Nachala Movement Israel, which organized the conference, rhapsodized, “We came here with one clear purpose: The purpose is to settle the entire Gaza Strip, not just part of it, not just a few settlements, the entire Gaza Strip from north to south.” The event drew a reported thousand attendees, among them National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir, and Knesset members from Netanyahu’s Likud Party

All the while, the question hangs in the air of when and how Israel will attack Iran, which is a potential trigger to U.S. direct engagement, and a short step to nuclear holocaust.

U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken was in Israel today for the 11th time since Oct. 7, 2023, at a two-hour meeting with Israel Prime Minister Netanyahu, with no outcome expected to be any different from all 10 of the other U.S. diplomatic visits. Aside from continued support for death, Blinken has nothing to offer.

The offer of the prospect to cherish and benefit all humanity is visible today in Kazan, Russia, at the opening of the BRICS Summit. This is the largest such meeting ever in Russia, with 12,000 people in attendance. There are foreign delegations from some 36 nations, and of those, 24 are led by heads of state or government. The conference, titled, “Strengthening Multilateralism for Just Global Development and Security,” runs over Oct. 22-24. Dozens of bilateral meetings are underway. Today host President Vladimir Putin met with the leaders of China, India, Egypt, and other nations.

Of great significance, it was confirmed today that Chinese President Xi Jinping will meet in Kazan with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the first such meeting in five years.

Even before today’s summit sessions began, an early meeting took place between President Vladimir Putin and Dilma Rousseff, president of the New Development Bank of the BRICS, confirming priorities for financing development.

Knowledge of these events and options are the “issues” sorely needed in the U.S. elections—not the sordid exchanges between candidates, made worse by the media.

EIR has a special team on the scene in Kazan, broadcasting reports and interviews several times a day. EIR.news Co-Editor Jason Ross said in his evening video wrap-up today:

“Tomorrow is really going to be the big day…. What we heard from the dignitaries, first off, was really exemplified by what Dilma Rousseff had to say about the need for a new financial architecture, and also what was said by [Prime Minister] Modi, about the need for a peaceful resolution of the Ukraine crisis. He offered India’s services, in helping to negotiate such a conclusion.

“What we learned from other nations, is that the BRICS is seen not as being like NATO, not as being a military alliance, but really being an economic grouping, more akin to the G7.

“So there is a lot of opportunity that countries, in Africa in particular, that we spoke to, had to say about how an end to colonialism, and a new era of development, can really become possible if the insistence of the Anglo-American financial powers on asserting dominance is broken. And that’s really the hopeful message that really came across from many of the people that I spoke with today….”
