Türkiye’s Foreign Ministry announced today that it submitted a letter to the United Nations, signed by 52 countries and 2 organizations, calling for a halt in arms deliveries to Israel. Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan told the press: “We have written a joint letter calling on all countries to stop the sale of arms and ammunition to Israel. We delivered this letter, which has 54 signatories, to the UN on November 1.… We must repeat at every opportunity that selling arms to Israel means participating in its genocide.” He said the letter is “an initiative launched by Türkiye.” Among the signers were Saudi Arabia, Brazil, Algeria, China, Iran, and Russia, with the two organizations being the Arab League and the Organization of Islamic Cooperation.

Separately, Fidan told Hürriyet Daily News that Israel’s main goal was to force Palestinians out, send Gazans to Egypt and West Bank Palestinians to Jordan, and that Israel constantly adds new conditions in so-called truce talks so as “to achieve their military goals.” He warned: “Netanyahu may take steps to destroy Iran’s nuclear capacity,” increasing the risk of regional warfare.
