Nov. 11, 2024 (EIRNS)—Glenn Diesen, a Norwegian professor who has been an outspoken advocate for peace, including in the International Peace Coalition mobilization, attended the Valdai Club forum in Russia over the past days, where he held a dialogue with President Putin following Putin’s speech. Today this 17 minute exchange was posted on YouTube.
Diesen presented a picture of the divided Eurasia driven by the unipolar world, and the emerging multipolar world represented by the BRICS. He asked how to harmonize the Eurasia security and BRICS collaboration with Europe and elsewhere. He added that the new multipolar world must not deteriorate into new blocs. How can BRICS be based on cooperation, and not be anti-Western which harbors division.
Putin responded that there was a chance for such a development after the Cold War, to overcome bloc politics, but the U.S. did not want that. They wanted to maintain their control over Europe. Ironically, this weakened the system of subjugation, even though most of the European countries follow the U.S. demands and policies, even to the point of colonial dependence, as seen in the energy crisis. Even Japan, which had not had any differences with Russia, has gone along with the U.S. demand for sanctions and anti-Russian policies.
