Russian President Vladimir Putin commented yesterday at a press conference concluding his state visit to Kazakhstan and attendance at the CSTO conference in Astana, that both the two attempted assassinations and the general treatment of Donald Trump during the election campaign means that the President-elect today is “not safe.” Asked by Vedomosti about the effects on Trump of Biden’s allowing Ukraine to use ATACMS on Russia, Putin replied, that “what struck me most, and I think you share my view, was … the fact that entirely uncivilized means were employed against Trump, absolutely uncivilized, including attempts on his life, more than once (incidentally, I believe he is still not entirely safe).” He went on: “There have been various instances in the history of the United States. I believe he [Trump] is a wise and hopefully judicious individual who comprehends all this. But what astonished me more was that during the attacks on him, during the struggle against him, not only was he subjected to degrading, unfounded procedures, legal charges, and so on, but his family members and children were targeted.” He said even “our gangsters” don’t descend to such low levels: “It is so repugnant that it underscores once more the complete disarray of today’s American political system.
