Slovak Prime Minister’s Adviser Hopes for New Policy in Europe

Slovakian Member of Parliament Jan Mazgut and Prime Minister Robert Fico’s adviser expressed his hope that a different policy can be brought into Europe following the inauguration of President-elect Trump in the U.S. Mazgut told TASS on the sidelines of a conference in Sochi: “Yes, our situation is almost similar to that in Hungary led by Prime Minister Viktor Orbán. This is due to the fact that not only Mr. Fico, but our whole party remains consistent in our political steps, our ideas and our rhetoric. This somehow contradicts the policy of the European Union and the United States. I hope, and I would like to believe that the situation will improve not only for Slovakia, but also for the European Union and eventually for the whole world with the new U.S. President, Mr. Donald Trump, immediately after his inauguration on January 20.”

All of Europe and the United States is supporting Ukraine (which borders both Slovakia and Hungary), Mazgut said, even though “our resources are fully depleted in terms of military equipment, arms, etc. Consequently, the financial and military support is not a way to peacemaking in Ukraine.”
