The Lead
Decide To Change the Strategic Parameters
by Stewart Battle (EIRNS) — Jan. 24, 2025
Schiller Institute founder and initiator of the International Peace Coalition (IPC) Helga Zepp-LaRouche opened the Friday meeting, No. 86 of the IPC by saying: “The world is relieved that we have a new President in the U.S., and while not everything is clear about how it will go … I think it’s definitely a relief.” Zepp-LaRouche particularly focused on the news that President Trump signed an executive order on Jan. 23 announcing “the full and complete release” of all records on the assassination of John F. Kennedy, to then be followed by those on the assassinations of Robert F. Kennedy and Martin Luther King. “This is a bombshell,” she continued, “because this is going to be a Pandora’s Box which will lead the world to [understand] what has been wrong with the United States, up to what people call the deep state.… So this is big, this is really big, it will have international ramifications.”
Taken together with the nominations of Tulsi Gabbard and Kash Patel, both of whose hearings are now scheduled for next week, it is clear that the Trump Administration is preparing a full offensive against the rotten intelligence community, or, as The LaRouche Organization’s recent dossier called it, the “Liars’ Bureau.” Col. Richard H. Black (ret.) told the IPC later on Friday, “there is now underway a rather major assault on the deep state and an attempt to rein in the rogue intelligence agencies.”
At the same time, Trump’s first few days in office have already sent the war hawks in Europe into a full-blown panic mode. Trump told reporters on Jan. 23, Thursday night, “I’m not sure we should be spending anything” on NATO, adding: “We’re protecting them. They’re not protecting us.” This follows reports that he may be considering pulling 20% of American troops out of Europe.
Fractures throughout the European Union further emphasize this disarray. Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban has threatened to veto any new rounds of anti-Russia sanctions if Ukraine doesn’t reopen gas deliveries from Russia—after Ukraine had cut them off on Jan. 1. Further, Slovakian Prime Minister Robert Fico has convened his country’s Security Council to preempt attempts at a Western-instigated “color revolution.” Fico, like Orban, has been an outspoken leader in Europe against the further push for war with Russia—a sentiment that is increasingly gaining sway among European populations.
Meanwhile in Gaza, despite the many mishaps and now the escalation by Israel into the West Bank, the fragile ceasefire reached last week continues to hold, and hostage releases appear to be continuing. This circumstance demands immediate action, in order to seize the current window of opportunity and establish a lasting basis for peace. Zepp-LaRouche called on everyone to mobilize to their full capacity to bring the Oasis Plan out into the open—to inject a new policy dynamic into the discussion. If this administration would put their weight behind a plan—not only for the reconstruction of Gaza, but also to economically build up the whole region with water, power, industry, and infrastructure—it could create an entirely new dynamic of peace.
Despite these positive developments, the situation remains very dangerous and many things can go wrong. Not least among the challenges are the weaknesses Trump has in regards to breaking free from the geopolitical methods which plagued his predecessors. On Thursday night, Jan. 23, Fox News released part two of an interview with President Trump, in which he doubled down on his threat to impose “massive tariffs,” “massive taxes,” and “big sanctions” on Russia if Putin does not end the war soon—an approach which Russia will never accept. Similarly, one could point to the slew of officials around Trump who are either neocons, Christian Zionists, or another variation of crazies that have been spawned in Washington.
When pressed on some of these issues, and skepticism of whether releasing the Kennedy files will actually cause anything to change, Zepp-LaRouche shot back:
“What we are looking at is not just a crime and a coverup, but we are looking at a coup against the very idea of America as a republic, of which Kennedy was probably the last representative.… So I think what’s at stake here is something much, much bigger than just the murder as such. It’s the entire transformation of America, from a hopeful country into a country which has been feared and almost hated by many people in the world. So by unearthing that, I think it has a tremendous chance to undo a lot, and put America back on the footing it was set up to be when the American Revolution created a watershed and conducted the first anti-colonial war against the British Empire. And I think it will permit the United States to join with the anti-colonial fight of the Global Majority. Because it’s like a catharsis—it’s like ridding the United States of all the bad things which have happened in between.”
Therefore, as this catharsis is occurring, creating an entirely new field within which to act, we must introduce a new geometry for great power collaboration in the world, and shift away from British-style geopolitics which has been the norm over the recent decades. Zepp-LaRouche concluded by re-emphasizing the strategic importance of putting the Oasis Plan on the table now:
“The Oasis Plan will only work if the large strategic parameters change—and they are about to change. And, as the British said since Sykes-Picot, this whole region has been the cockpit for geopolitical manipulation, the ‘Great Game’…. Therefore, since all the decisions made on the ground always have that strategic background, the only secure way the Oasis Plan can be realized is if the large powers agree on it. That, however, is a potential which probably has never been so close as right now. When President Trump called President Xi Jinping, they discussed, and Trump said if the United States and China work together, we can solve all the problems on the planet.… If there is an attempt to apply that principle in the Middle East, it must be now.”
Indeed, China has significant expertise in turning deserts into blooming green space, and all the countries in the region—as well as beyond—have an interest in this area becoming peaceful and prosperous. If significant amounts of water can be brought to this arid region, it is not only life that will bloom, but also likely a new spirit of common humanity, one that might just set its roots down to grow. That is an enormous opportunity that must not be missed.
