Sales of new e-cars dropped by 27% last year, from the previous year’s level. Sales represented 14% of all cars sold, which implies that billions of euros invested by auto makers into the e-mobility boom have not yielded the expected profits. Experts point to the example of Malta, where new sales were boosted by 90%, due to substantial state subsidies, as the only way to significantly increase sales also in Germany. At present, there is no state support there.
E-cars are too expensive for most Germans, and there are still not enough stations for re-charging the battery.
