Palestinian journalist Omar al-Dirawi was murdered in his home, along with his family, on Jan. 3 by an IDF strike. On Jan. 3 Middle East Eye’s coverage carries Dirawi’s photo, showing him wearing a special vest with the word PRESS in big block letters on it, and wearing a badge that also says “press” in English and Arabic.
Dirawi, who worked for various media outlets, is the 202nd journalist killed by the Israeli army, have been jacked up by the likes of Netanyahu, Smotrich, and Ben-Gvir. That works out to more than 14 journalists killed per month, since the war began, which would seem a statistical impossibility—unless the instruction is to shoot to kill journalists.
