Today President Donald Trump signed an Executive Order directing the declassification and release of the files on the assassinations of President John F. Kennedy, Senator Robert F. Kennedy, and Martin Luther King, Jr.
Last evening, Trump spoke more about why he had not released the files during his first term in office. The question came up on Trump’s first TV interview since inauguration, which he gave to Sean Hannity on Fox News. More was set for the Hannity Show tonight.
On the release of the assassination files of President John F. Kennedy, mandated by Congress years back, Trump explained very clearly that Mike Pompeo had asked him not to do it. Trump said that Pompeo was “professional,” and was to be assumed to be acting in the interest of the nation. There were others who also asked Trump to refrain from releasing them. But, Trump said, “I’m going to release them.”
