Ukraine's Intel Chief Budanov: If Negotiations Don't Start by Summer, Ukraine Will Be in Existential Crisis

Kyrylo Budanov, the chief of the Main Directorate of Intelligence (HUR) of Ukraine’s Defense Ministry, has reported that unless serious negotiations to end the war take place by this summer, Ukraine could face dangerous consequences for its very existence, reports Ukrainska Pravda Jan. 27. This is a notable change from the usual line of Ukraine’s leadership—that there should be no negotiations and all Ukraine needs is more weapons.

Ukrainska Pravda reported that a recent meeting was convened by the Verkhovna Rada parliamentary leadership, and by the party factions, in which they were briefed by Ukraine’s defense forces’ command on the actual situation of the war.
