U.S. Intelligence 'Liars' Bureau' Threatens Trump: Don't Undermine Our Control

Writing in Foreign Affairs on Jan. 17, former CIA analyst and Principal Deputy National Intelligence Officer for Russia and Eurasia at the National Intelligence Council (2018-2022) Peter Schroeder threatens the incoming Trump administration that any “disruption” of the U.S. intelligence community (IC) would “undermine national security,” aka our intention to continue the permanent war policy. Schroeder, no small fish, is worried, however, that he, the CIA, and their “IC” cronies could lose their power to impose policies upon the elected government.

Following in the CIA’s longstanding tradition of lying, cheating, and stealing, Schroeder whines that the intelligence community is “ill at ease” with Trump’s nominations for Director of National Intelligence (Tulsi Gabbard), director of the FBI (Kash Patel), and director of the CIA (John Radcliffe), because “Trump might launch an all-out attack on what he has called the ‘deep state’: ostensibly a secretive group of government bureaucrats collaborating to obstruct the Trump agenda, including officers illegally spying on Americans and leaking information to the media.” Trump’s nominees “share his disregard for the community’s output….”

Also alarming to Schroeder is Speaker of the House Mike Johnson’s replacement of Rep. Mike Turner, a pro-Ukraine war tool, as chair of the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence. Foreign intelligence sharing will be put at risk under Trump, Schroeder says, with “Trump’s unconventional foreign policy views [peace with Russia–ed.] and willingness to antagonize allies.…” In other words, Five Eyes’ Anglo-American intelligence coordination, a cornerstone of the NATO war policy, will be put at risk.

Throughout the lengthy article, Schroeder bemoans the different scenarios under which intelligence community personnel may leave their jobs and resources may be pulled from agency budgets.
