The military role in President Donald Trump’s campaign to close the U.S. Southern border and remove undocumented aliens from the U.S. continues to grow. The latest developments include the following:
• U.S. Southern Command announced yesterday that 150 troops, mostly Marine infantry, but including elements from Southcom and U.S. Army South, arrived at the Guantanamo naval base yesterday to support DHS detention operations.
• Texas Gov. Gregg Abbott announced a deal with the Trump Administration, to allow Texas National Guard troops to make immigration-related arrests along the U.S.-Mexico border. However, they must be accompanied by a U.S. immigration officer or Border Patrol agent when making arrests, reported the Dallas Express.
