Tens of Thousand of Greek Students Protest over 2023 Train Crash

Massive student protests continue in Greece over the criminal incompetence over the Tempe train crash of 2023, which killed 57 people, including many students. Thousands demonstrated on Feb. 7 in Syntagma Square across from the Hellenic Parliament. Protesters chanted “Murderers! Murderers!” among other slogans. Students were joined by their teachers, as the Greek Federation of Secondary Education State School Teachers (OLME) declared a strike in solidarity.

“The full truth must be uncovered, the causes of the explosion [during the collision] must be thoroughly investigated, and those responsible for the unacceptable tampering with the crime scene before the necessary evidence was collected must be held accountable,” OLME stated in its announcement.
