March 30, 2025 (EIRNS)—U.S. Food and Drug Administration’s top vaccine official Dr. Peter Marks resigned on March 28, after he was confronted with an ultimatum to resign or be fired. Marks is one of the key officials who helped push through Operation Warp Speed, the program that helped develop the vaccine to fight COVID-19, produced by Pfizer and Biontech, during the first Trump administration.
Since 2016, Marks headed the Health and Human Services’ Food and Drug Administration regulation of vaccines, as director of FDA’s Center for Biologics Evaluation and Research. Marks has been a “marked-man” in the eyes of Health and Human Services Secretary Robert Kennedy, Jr., going back to the days of the COVID-19 vaccine.
Marks wrote a letter upon his forced resignation March 28, addressed to Acting FDA Commissioner Sara Brenner, stating, “As you are aware, I was willing to work to address the Secretary’s concerns regarding vaccine safety and transparency by hearing from the public and implementing a variety of public meetings and engagements with the National Academy of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine.”
He continued, “However, it has become clear that truth and transparency are not desired by the Secretary, but rather he wished subservient confirmation of his misinformation and lies.” He added, “Undermining confidence in well-established vaccines that have met the high standards for quality, safety, and effectiveness that have been in place for decades at FDA is irresponsible, detrimental to public health, and a clear danger to our nation’s health, safety. and security.”
Marks played a role in establishing Operation Warp Speed, a partnership between the federal government and private companies Pfizer and Biontech to develop a vaccine for COVID-19. That vaccine saved several million lives, in both the United States and abroad. In November 2022, Kennedy’s anti-vaccine Children’s Health Defense published a book, “Cause Unknown”: The Epidemic of Sudden Deaths in 2021 & 2022 & 2023, for which Kennedy wrote the Foreword, and promoted the book, tweeting that it details data showing “COVID shots are a crime against humanity.”
