Russia RDIF Head Pushes Cooperation With U.S. on Rare-Earth Metals

March 19, 2025 (EIRNS)—Kirill Dmitriev, the head of the government’s Russia Direct Investment Fund (RDIF), again raised the possibility of US cooperation in the development of Russia’s plentiful deposits of rare-earth metals. In comments on the sidelines of the RUIE meeting March 18, Dmitriev said: “Russia has many-fold reserves of rare-earth metals as compared to Ukraine and the president [Putin] clearly indicated that, and we can cooperate in this regard either with the United States or with other countries.” Dmitriev is special envoy of the Russian President for investment and economic cooperation with foreign countries, as well as chief executive of the Russian Direct Investment Fund (RDIF). Dmitriev has also spoken with Elon Musk about joint Russian-American work on Mars.
