March 2, 2025 (EIRNS)—British Prime Minister Keir Starmer said this morning—apparently in a BBC interview—that he will not be “diverted” by calls, including from the Scottish National Party (SNP), to cancel the invitation to Trump for a state visit. “The central, most important thing, what drives me is, is what I’m saying and doing more likely to bring about a lasting peace, or not,” he said, reported The Telegraph. “If the answer is yes, I’ll do it. If the answer is no, I won’t do it. So I’ve seen people ramping up the rhetoric and taking to Twitter and saying what they would do. Good for them. I’m not that interested in that.
