March 26, 2025 (EIRNS)—On March 25, Trump appointed Greg Autry from the University of Central Florida as NASA’s Chief Financial Officer. Autry is a right-wing ideologue, and has been a strong proponent of space commercialization. He is also a die-hard “China hawk,” co-authoring with Peter Navarro the books Death by China: Confronting the Dragon—A Global Call to Action in 2011, and in 2024 Red Moon Rising:How America Will Beat China on the Final Frontier. The two have also co-authored numerous articles on these topics. Autry has served in various minor posts in the previous Trump Administration. He was appointed NASA CFO in the first Trump Administration, but was not confirmed. It is suspected that, if confirmed, he will be the point person for proposing and implementing the DOGE cuts on the space agency.
