March 20, 2025 (EIRNS)—Ukraine’s claimed figures for Russian casualties have regularly relied upon London. Today the U.K. Ministry of Defense posted its updated claim, that Russian armed forces have “most likely” lost over 900,000 soldiers, killed or injured, and that 200-250,000 of these were likely fatalities. There is little new in their inflated claim, except for their accompanying “finding”—that Putin’s tolerance for continued fighting is based upon his putting “less value on the lives of ethnic minority” Russians, than he does on the lives of “Slavic Russians.” Here is most of the posting:
“Russian President Putin and the Russian military leadership highly likely prioritize their conflict objectives over the lives of Russian soldiers. They are almost certainly prepared to tolerate continuously high casualty rates so long as this does not negatively affect public or elite support for the war, and those losses can be replaced.
