March 2, 2025 (EIRNS)—Ukraine’s Volodymyr Zelenskyy arrived in London yesterday, and immediately flew into Starmer’s embrace. Before he left Washington on Feb. 28, Starmer called Zelenskyy and tried to persuade him to return to the White House, and then called Trump in an effort to lower the temperature. His efforts came to no avail, as the Americans told him that tempers needed calming before any return to discussions, reported The Telegraph.

Among others calling on Zelenskyy to kiss and make up with Trump was NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte, who told the BBC: “I said: I think you have to find a way, dear Volodymyr, to restore your relationship with Donald Trump and the American administration. That is important going forward.”

Zelenskyy appeared to express regret for how talks unfolded in the White House on Feb. 28. He said that it was “crucial” for Ukraine to have Trump’s support. He wrote on X on Saturday morning, March 1: “We are very grateful to the United States for all the support. I’m thankful to President Trump, Congress for their bipartisan support, and American people. Ukrainians have always appreciated this support, especially during these three years of full-scale invasion.”
