The Chinese response to Trump’s new tariffs was not long in coming. The Customs Tariff Commission of the State Council announced on April 4 that China will impose additional 34% tariffs on all products imported from the United States, reports South China Morning Post. The tariffs come into effect on April 10.
Beijing has taken other actions as well:
• The eligibility of six U.S.-linked companies to export sorghum, poultry products and poultry bone meal to China has been suspended.
• Export controls are in place on 16 American companies that produce items of potentially military use, such as in drones, AI, and aerospace.
