Military tensions between India and Pakistan remain high. According to numerous news reports, Indian military officials have accused Pakistani forces of cross border shooting incidents along the Line of Control nearly every night since the April 22 attack. Indian daily Hindustan Times reported today that India has warned Pakistan against what it calls unprovoked ceasefire violations along the LoC and the international border in Jammu and Kashmir as the Directors General of Military Operations (DGMOs) of both countries talked over the hotline on April 29. No details of the discussion of the two DGMOs are provided, however.
Indian fighter jets patrolling above occupied Kashmir were forced to flee after the Pakistan Air Force (PAF) scrambled its jets, AFP reports this morning, citing Pakistani news reports. According to the AFP report, PTV News, citing security sources, said that four Rafale fighter jets of the Indian Air Force (IAF) were spotted “patrolling” occupied Kashmir without crossing the Line of Control. “Aircraft of the PAF immediately spotted the Indian fighter jets,” the report added. “As a result of PAF’s diligent action, the Indian Rafale jets panicked and were forced to flee,” it claimed.
Lt. Gen. Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry, Director General of the Inter-Services Public Relations of the Pakistani military, charged yesterday that India hadn’t provided a “shred of evidence for its baseless allegations” against Pakistan concerning the Pahalgam terrorist attack, in which 26 Indian tourists were killed. He charged that, on the contrary, India was involved in “undertaking cross-border terrorism inside Pakistan.”
“We will present to you how India has been found to operate a terror network inside Pakistan in which explosives, IEDs (improvised explosive devices) and other materials are being provided to terrorists to target not only military but also innocent civilians,” he said, reported the Dawn. Chaudhry said the evidence he was presenting was just “one small part” of India’s “state-sponsored terrorism.” He then cited a number of cases which he said showed Indian military involvement in terrorist acts inside Pakistan.
