Putin Will Attend the SCO Summit, Kremlin Spokesman Peskov Confirms

In remarks to the media on Aug. 21, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov confirmed that Russian President Vladimir Putin plans to attend the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) summit in Bishkek, August 31-September 1. All ten member-states of the SCO are expected to send their top leaders, including China’s Xi Jinping, India’s Narendra Modi, Pakistan’s Shehbaz Sharif, Iran’s Masoud Pezeshkian, Belarus’s Alexander Lukashenko, and others.

“As for the schedule of bilateral meetings and contacts on the sidelines of this summit, which will be a very representative and meaningful event, we will inform you in due time.”
