U.S. Navy Vice Admiral Shoshana Chatfield, the U.S. representative on the NATO Military Committee, was reportedly fired yesterday. Reuters, which broke the story first, wrote that it was unclear whether any official reason was given for Chatfield’s dismissal, or if it was related to any U.S. policy direction on the North Atlantic Treaty Organization. Instead, media reports have been hanging her firing on Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth’s drive to eradicate anything to do with DEI—diversity, equality and inclusion–from the Pentagon. A replacement for Chatfield is expected to be named in the coming weeks.
