In the face of growing concern over the effects of the tariffs on China, U.S. President Donald Trump is insisting that there are discussions ongoing with China on the matter. Chinese representatives indicate that there are no talks presently, at any level. While both the Chinese Finance Minister and the governor of the People’s Bank of China are in Washington for the annual IMF spring meetings and are talking with their foreign counterparts, here also there seems to be no communication with their American counterparts. China has said that they will only begin talks if Trump lifts the tariffs.
