The administration of President Donald Trump is seeking to organize a military parade in Washington, D.C., to mark the 250th anniversary of the U.S. Army—and the commander-in-chief’s 79th birthday—both of which fall on June 14, The Hill has reported. A similar effort during his first term was cancelled, due to the multimillion-dollar cost and the threat of damage to the D.C. roads by the military hardware.
In addition, during his meeting with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on April 7, Trump claimed he would implement a $1 trillion military budget: “We also essentially approved a budget which is in the facility … of $1 trillion, and nobody’s seen anything like it. We have to build our military, and we’re very cost-conscious. But the military is something that we have to build, and we have to be strong, because you got a lot of bad forces out there now.”
