Lost in the chaos that has been engulfing the Pentagon for the past week or more, is the reality that U.S. military operations are continuing around the globe without letup. This includes Africa, where the U.S.-led African Lion exercise is underway. It kicked off in Tunisia on April 14, and runs in Morocco on May 12-23. More than 10,000 troops from around 40 countries are expected at six locations across Agadir, Tan-Tan, Tiznit, Tifnit, Kenitra and Ben Guerir, according to The Africa Report. This year’s edition of the exercise is described as one of the largest and most complex to be undertaken. Notable is that Israel will be participating in the Morocco phase of the exercise, as reported in an April 10 U.S. Army story.
Morocco will deploy six Apache attack helicopters which were just delivered from the U.S. in February as part of an order of 24.
