Reuters reported yesterday afternoon that the half-dozen B-2 stealth bombers that had been deployed to Diego Garcia in the middle of the Indian Ocean, are being replaced “with another type of bomber.” The stealth bombers had been sent to Diego Garcia, a joint U.S.-U.K. military base, as part of a massive escalation in tensions with Iran in March. Their withdrawal, therefore, marks a significant deescalation. Unnamed officials said the B-2 bombers were being replaced by B-52 bombers. The Pentagon refused to comment.
