In a May 6 article in the Russian government newspaper Rossiyskaya Gazeta, entitled, “On the Importance of the Lessons of the Great Patriotic War for Ensuring National Security in Modern Geopolitical Conditions,” Secretary of the Russian Security Council Sergei Shoigu, who was previously Defense Minister, singles out Great Britain as the force that had instigated Nazi Germany to mobilize its forces to seek “living space” in Russia in World War II.
Shoigu writes, “The only real force capable of resisting Nazi hegemony was the Soviet Union. But it, too, was the object of Hitler’s coveted aspirations, which at the instigation of London, was seeking for ‘living space’ for the Third Reich in the East.”
Shoigu’s statement is true, but is rarely voiced bluntly in the open. Montagu Norman, the Governor of the Bank of England, working with Hitler’s Reichsbank Governor and Economics Minister Hjalmar Schacht, pushed forward the Four Year Plan, 1933-37, which built the Nazi rearmament war machine. Britain helped instigate Hitler to launch Operation Barbarossa on June 22, 1941, invading the Soviet Union. The subsequent Great Patriotic War from Barbarossa until May 9, 1945 culminated in the deaths of 27 million Soviet citizens, and the pulverization of homes, factories, and so forth.
In his article, Shoigu makes the point that the Great Patriotic War has parallels to the circumstances in which Russia finds itself today, including London’s parallel role. He asserts, “In parallel, the European elites, incited and patronized by London and Paris, continue to make loud statements about the need to inflict a strategic defeat on Russia. But not only that. Accompanied by this annoying noise, NATO and the European Union have launched programs aimed at preparing the collective West for a direct military conflict with Russia. These aggressive steps, as well as NATO’s continuing advance eastward, toward Russia’s borders, are justified in the best traditions of Goebbels’ propaganda.”
To make his point indelibly clear, Rossiyskaya Gazeta editorially runs above this statement by Shoigu, a photo of a black-shirted Oswald Mosley giving the Nazi salute to his followers. Mosley as head of the British Union of Fascists, built a mass following of Adolf Hitler in Britain. Mosley was secretly married on Oct. 6, 1936 in Germany to fellow Nazi Diana Mitford, withAdolf Hitler as his best man.
Shoigu’s article is one of the recent articles and presentations prepared by top members of the Putin government and associated elites, who are exposing the role that Britain and France have played to destroy Russia. At the same time, some among these leaders have been publishing the story of the 250 years of Russia and the United States’ collaboration, dating back to the American Revolution. Nikolay Patrushev, former Secretary of the Russian Security Council and now personal aide to President Vladimir Putin, documented on April 21 in the daily Kommersant that, during the 1861-65 American Civil War, Russia deployed its navy to protect the Abraham Lincoln government from a planned British and French invasion to topple the Union.
