U.S. President Donald Trump yesterday threatened sanctions against anyone who buys Iranian oil, a warning that came after planned talks over Tehran’s rapidly advancing nuclear program were postponed, reported AP. He wrote on his Truth social media: “All purchases of Iranian Oil, or Petrochemical products, must stop, NOW!” He said any country or person who buys those products from Iran will not be able to do business with the United States “in any way, shape, or form.” This is also an attack on China as China is the major buyer of Iranian oil.
This followed the postponement of the fourth U.S.-Iran meeting and the announcement of new U.S. sanctions on Iran’s missile programs, sanctions that were denounced by Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmaeil Baqaei as hostile, illegal and anti-human. “The sanctions that have been declared against the Iranian and non-Iranian individuals and companies on various pretexts during the past recent days clearly illustrated the American policy-makers’ insistence on law-breaking, violation of the rights and interests of the other nations, and also their attempt to disrupt the friendly and legal relations among the developing countries through economic terrorism,” Baqaei said in a statement on May 1, reported Tasnim.
